Clinic Appointment Today (Wednesday)

This is my friend our youngest child Rickie ...the picture on the left he has his vest on, the vest is connected to a machine that forces air into the vest and it shakes his lungs and loosens the mucus in the airways, after which he is forced to cough out the mucus....along with the vest Rickie does his nebs.

Three different medicines by way of a nebulizer--at the same time his vest is on. It takes a little longer than 30 min. He does it twice a day--everyday--forever.

When Rickie is sick he has to do treatments 3 to 4 times a day.

Every 3 months he goes to clinic, they test his pulmonary function, weight, chest x-rays, and physical exam. If his pulmonary function test is down 10%, or his weight is down, it is a red flag to the doctors and they put him in the hospital and give him a tune-up. A tune up is normally IV meds, respiratory therapy and physical therapy. This normally lasts 2-3 weeks...sometimes they let him go home with IV meds.

Rickie is worried. Every time so far, he's had a clinic appointment he hasn't come home.

Please, if you have a chance, send Rickie positive thoughts, pray that he can come home after his appointment!

This is a request from him...

This is my song to you Rickie.

Love you,

Mommy

Poor guy. That is a lot to handle for anyone, let alone a little boy.

Praying that this is the best clinic ever for Rickie and that he gets to come home.

Very touching song, it brought tears to my eyes. You are such a sweet mommy Carey.

Hello Rickie - I just want you to know that there is a very old wise woman in Wisconsin who is thinking about you! Not just today, but every day.

I added your pictures to my online photo album! Now you are in the rotation with all my favorite people.

Your vest is ultra-cool and looks kind of spaceman-ish. I know all about the blue tubes. Isn't that funny? It comes to the house on a very large truck and it is coiled tightly in a cardboard box. It is so hard to get that crooked tube straightened out after being cramped in the box so long!

Do you have a favorite nurse? If you want to surprise her, wait until she gets really close to you and then ... kiss her cheeck! I promise you that it will be the very best thing that happens to her! Ever!

A bigger surprise would be if you have a nurse that you don't like and then when she zooms in, kiss her cheek. That would be really funny because she would never expect that!

Knowing your mom, she might have some tough rules about you kissing people so I am thinking you need to check this out with her first.

Carey: I'm praying for him and for you. I can't listen to the song yet. I am pretty certain it will make me sob like a baby. Sending love and prayers your way! XO!!

My thoughts are with you Rickie and I think Carrie is right about the vest and it's coolness, I think if one of the nurses is mean you save some of that mucus for her and hand it right to her. My thought are with you little man and stay strong
